Cute Knight now has a Deluxe expansion, featuring new items, new secret events, new ending variants, a revamp to the Wizard's Challenge, and totally new graphics for monsters and endings.

If you previously brought Cute Knight directly from me (or my BMT Micro affiliates), you can upgrade to Deluxe for just the $5 difference between versions.

There isn't currently a Deluxe-specific demo, one may show up eventually.

.... I can't think of much else to say, except that I'm happy to have some nice shiny pictures out there at last. :) Man, it's been a weird ride.

What's next for Cute Knight? CK 2?

I have a lot of design notes and ideas for a sequel but I am still finishing up scripting on Fatal Hearts for now. When that gets to the stage where I'm mostly waiting on artists - I expect there to be a lot of that - then I can get coding. :)

Looks great. Sounds like this IP will do very well for you. Keep up the good work.

Looks much nicer. I think this game will really benefit from the improved pixel art.

Question though: why are you continuing to sell both at once? I would think you'd just replace the old one, especially if this is mainly an improvement, and because most people would choose the newer one anyway (five dollars doesn't really matter). But I suppose Capcom sold Street Fighter II and Street Fighter II: Championship Edition at once too and nobody minded.

Well, especially while there's only a demo for the non-deluxe version, it would be silly to pull it... also having them both visible helps make the point that they're different, and that you should check out Deluxe even if you already have the original. People are still buying both of them. I expect that over time I'll slowly fade the original out of view, especially when new-game is finished and I reorganise the products and the multiple-purchase special offers.

The *pixel* art hasn't changed at all. It's the non-pixel art that has. :)

Ah, true.

By pixel art I meant the new enemy graphics -- okay, maybe they're too big to be pixel art in the strict definition (where every pixel matters).

Looking forward to your next game!

I only get picky because there are parts of the game that actually were pixeled - like all the stone floors and walls in the dungeon, and it was a PAIN to do - so I hold them as distinct from things that were much more easily airbrushed. :)

I like the stone floors actually, the style reminds me of Shining in the Darkness (for Genesis).

So you are making a sequel! :D

And good to see the upgrade option. Gotta go see if I kept my receipt... ._. (I hope I kept it...)

Nice. The better drawn graphics were the only things this game really could use. I'm sure that the extra content is also fun to have.

But aren't you afraid of a little confusion with the title? Many portals tend to add phrases like "get the full, deluxe version" to every game's features. Some people might get confused on which version they actually own.

It was suggested as the most appropriate title variation for the improved/retail version - we did talk about using "Special Edition" or something like that instead, but they said Deluxe would be better.
