I'm thinking of giving one of my future games a more of a techno feel to it. I've made two tunes so far and wanted to know your thoughts and if I'm going in the right direction.

A stage tune?

Boss tune?

The first one needs some beat variation. Keep in mind that it will be looped for quite some time. So cram some variation in (more then usual - it's supposed to be a loop, right?).

And the second one has sorta subtle chirpy high frequency sounds with very hard "edges". It's pretty unpleasant for my ears. (Encoding it as a low bitrate ogg would wash that out for the most part as a side effect.)

But generally I would say they are quite neat already. They only need some finishing touches here and there.

On the first one, yeah, I will be adding more variation to that one. That one if far from complete.

On the second one, thanks! Could you tell me around what part of the song gives you the high chirpy sound? I'm not picking that up, or not really "trained" to hear it.

0:15-2:07... almost the whole song long. Dunno if it was put there on purpose or if it's some over steered filter.

Loop that one and it should be obvious what I mean.

Ahh, I see what you're talking about.

That's the phaser effect that's been added. I'll try to blend that a little better. It doesn't really give off any crazy sounds on my speakers. I'll test it out on others so that I can truly see what you hear. It's kinda hard to fix if you can't see or hear something in action.

Use limiter Luke.

new_2_1_techno.mp3 is quite ok, except those crazy pianos (Doesn't fits at all here).

Hey I tried to clean this up some, and wanted to know if it's still hurting your ears.

I also create another unfinished tune. I just want to make it's clear. Does it sound clear and not too loud to you?

I like the new tune a lot. I don't like the slow attack string synth whole notes in the revised tune. I didn't listen to the earlier versions.

Hey Uesugi,

Thanks! :)

The earlier version is in the very first post in this thread.

Which part of the song are you talking about? Close to the end?

In new_2_1_techno_2.mp3, almost from the beginning. It plays once a measure except for every fourth measure there's a little "fill" and it plays twice.
