Only two companies on this big casual games market offer affiliate programs which are comfortable for distribution and earning. It is Reflexive with lots of pluses such as full DRM customization and BFG with their great PNP program and cool and fast coming game titles.
Gamehouse had somekind of decent program, had, because it closes affiliate program in the end of April and offers its affiliates to switch to dumb promotion of RealArcade's GamePass...it is completely unsuitable!
Tried to test Trygames affiliate program, but they are working with high traffic portals from now on...so the entry for small and middle sized project is closed here.
Arcadetown...hmm...they don't provide graphic assets and their DRM is based on BMT Micro and this isn't very comfortable.
Zylom's program is unusable too because of narrow range of games and very limited number of new games...
So all affiliate marketer can stick with to earn money and provide best content is Reflexive and BFG programs. I wonder why there is such situation? Why other companies don't consider quality organised affiliate programs as a strong sales channel? Is it bad or good that we have here limited number of good affiliate programs, what do you think about that?

Maybe I'm missing something, but there is always dealing direct with the people who make the games?
Most devs on here accept at least some direct affiliates.

Yes, but it is more time consuming than dealing with affiliate programs, also, ususally developers offer no more than 30% cut, but, Reflexive beats them with 40% share for example.

Alawar offers 50/50 scheme (that is equal to 40% comission) to their affiliates. It includes acess to arts, custom builds (only affiliateID embedding), XML feed, and also simple javascript-based "one-line-of-code" game shops, so-called "game showrooms".

There are two cons:
- Alawar Affiliate system is based on RegNow system, and all payments, stats go through RegNow,
- sometimes you need to ask Alawar to add new titles to their affiliate system - games become available about one month later its launch on alawar.com.

REE is converting well from my site and is available through BMTMicro at the 40% rate. Contact me if you affiliate and have any questions or need graphics you can't snag from my site.

PlayFirst has a decent affiliate program... no XML feed of games though. They could be a big 3rd if they put in a small amount of effort into helping their affiliates out more.

ArcadeTown is growing it's program as well.

You can also sell through RegNow, RealArcade using CJ, GameFiesta, Plimus, Alawar, GameHouse (until the end of the month), eSellerate, Yahoo! Games or just use lazy adsense to monetize.

Yes, they use CJ and reward $5 per game sale last I checked.

Joel just posted this morning that Yahoo! games is shifting focus away from casual games so that will likely affect their affiliate offering http://www.gamezebo.com/2007/04/under_the_radar.html. We lost another one!
