An innovative, environmentally conscious Vancouver entertainment company seeks a talented Game Programmer to join the design team for a next-generation multiplayer product. The ideal candidate will possess wide experience in many aspects of 3D game programming, including networking, physics, interface design, and tools. With a creative flair and high-quality bar for all elements of design, the game programmer will work with industry-standard middleware to implement aspects of the game ranging from narrative and user experience to core mechanics. Joining a small creative team, the ideal candidate will help to shape the vision of new commercial products on an episodic scale, and craft an outstandingly original player experience.

Responsibilities

- Help to develop the codebase of a new multiplayer game, using a major 3D engine and middleware to implement features including networking, physics, and interface.
- Help to craft the design vision of the game.
- Translate the design vision into balanced game mechanics, game progression, and interface flow, implementing critical feedback.
- Lay a foundation for the flexible development of quest-based gameplay.
- Contribute to a base of thorough and complete documentation.
- Effectively manage development schedules within a small team.
- Help to establish a consistent creative, artistic, audio and technical direction.

Qualifications

- A Bachelor's degree in computing science or computer engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in game development. A significant background in industry contexts would be an asset.
- Strong C++ and OO skills and solid mathematical ability.
- Ability to evaluate existing and competitive products, including game engines.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with artists and non-programmers on a development team
- Experience in project scheduling and management.
- You should show enthusiasm for producing good, tight game-play experiences and will ideally have contributed to past titles.
