Vancouver, Canada's Grubby Games is seeking talented artists for the development of casual games targeted at both PC and consoles. In our small but growing studio, we currently develop games in teams of two (one artist and one programmer). We take great pride in our games, and each one is lovingly crafted with great attention to detail. As the only artist working on a game, candidates will have the opportunity to implement a cohesive art style across an entire game experience – including the characters, the environments, and the user interface. Our ideal candidate will have the ability to define a project style, as well as the skills to execute on this artistic vision.
An individual artist will work to create all of the art assets required for the current game project. Artists will also collaborate with the game designer and programmer to ensure that project vision is maintained and that the art assets are implemented as intended. We foster an open, creative atmosphere where the input of all team members is encouraged!
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates should be:
proficient with Adobe Photoshop
interested in creating 2D games
skilled at 2D drawing (people and environments) in digital and traditional media
strong in overall artistic skill, with an excellent sense of colour, lighting, and composition
adept at working in a variety of styles and themes
capable of producing large quantities of high caliber illustrations
attentive to detail
willing to accept and provide direction
strong with written and verbal communication
able to cooperate creatively on a team level
good at managing their time; able to meet schedules and artistic guidelines
self-directed, requiring little supervision
adept at problem solving and creative thinking
legally able to work in Canada
Pluses:
experience with 2D or 3D character animation an important asset
experience in the game industry or on personal game projects
Successful applicants will be working with us in our soon-to-open office in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
To apply, please send your cover letter, resume, and portfolio (if available online or in digital format) to jobs@grubbygames.com.
